Resident Evil 4 for PC is one of the most celebrated games in the long-running franchise. The game concluded with an epic battle that left players on the edge of their seats, but it wasn't without controversies that plagued this installment. Resident Evil 4 had problems with its camera, controls, and framerate. Capcom eventually released patch updates to fix these problems but gamers who already owned the game were stuck paying $19.99 once again instead of waiting for a patch update to be applied to their game files. Capcom has now announced that it will be offering refunds to gamers who bought the game used on their PC. This news comes just one day before the release of Resident Evil 6. The last official game in the series was released back in September 2007, so it still has a long way to go before this particular title will receive its final treatment. "We are committed to supporting our PC titles with downloadable content post-launch, but for some games we need to take additional steps to meet fan expectations." - Capcom USA executive producer Michael Maren said regarding RE4. "Resident Evil 4" is the most influential game in the franchise, and has been played by countless gamers since it was originally released on Playstation 2. The retail copy of the game cost $39.99 and the downloadable copies were priced at $19.99 at GameTap, and GameStop. The PC port of Resident Evil 4 had framerate issues with their graphics options menu, which caused some players to be unable to change their graphics settings even after installing a patch update that was meant to fix this problem. This legacy of problems made Capcom USA executive producer Michael Maren to say: "This is one such instance where we decided that we needed to take care of those customers. It's our way of saying thank you to the fans for being so loyal over the years". On May 29, 2015, Capcom offered refunds to users whose copies of "Resident Evil 4" were purchased at GameStop or GameTap. Refunds are available worldwide in any currency. The company said it will provide a refund in the form of store credit to anyone who requests one. Resident Evil 4 was released on both Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox platforms in 2005, with different graphics options featured for each system, though both games share several major plot elements. The PSP version of the game (released under the same title) is based on this edition, but features different characters and levels. However, a special unlock was made for this port to enable the player to play as Ada Wong instead of Leon Kennedy. Additionally, Ada is a playable character in "Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D", which is based off the same edition. In 2009, Capcom remastered Resident Evil 4 with additional high-definition graphical effects, improved controls and other new features for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles as well as Windows PCs. In addition, a Nintendo Wii port was released in Japan only via the WiiWare digital download service. cfa1e77820
